FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Fort Lauderdale police apprehended a barricaded subject who they said was involved in an aggravated assault on Wednesday.
Police said the incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. at an apartment building in the 600 block of Northeast 17th Way.

According to Fort Lauderdale Police Detective Ali Adamson, the incident started out as an argument between the property management company and the tenants who live at the building.
Adamson said the suspect threw knives at an employee of the property management company before trying to stab a neighbor. He then barricaded himself in his apartment, she said.
According to the detective, a fire erupted inside the suspect’s apartment while police were working to take him into custody.
The circumstances surrounding this incident, as well as the cause of the fire are still being investigated.
Adamson said neither victims were injured during the incident.
The suspect’s identity has not yet been released.
Meanwhile, Adamson confirmed that a police officer was involved in a crash at 500 NE 10th Ave. while responding to the incident.
She said the officer and the other driver involved in the crash were transported to Broward Health Medical Center to be evaluated.
She said the circumstances surrounding the crash are still being investigated.
