USDA issues alert for Perdue’s ready-to-eat chicken breast tenders

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has issued a public health alert for Perdue’s frozen ready-to-eat chicken breast tenders labeled “gluten free.”

The agency says the product, which was sold at BJ’s Wholesale Club locations nationwide, may contain small pieces of clear plastic and blue dye.

The 42-ounce plastic bags of chicken tenders were produced on July 12 and have the “best if used by” date of July 12, 2023.

A recall alert has not been issued as BJ’s isn’t currently selling the product, however some people could already have the product in their homes. Customers are asked to either throw the chicken out or return it.

No health issues have been reported due to the chicken at this time, however the USDA confirmed that it discovered the contamination after a BJ’s customer complained about a small piece of plastic and blue dye inside their chicken tender.
