Detectives seeking aggravated battery suspect in Fort Lauderdale

FORT LAUDRDALE, Fla. – Police warned the public on Wednesday that detectives have been searching for an aggravated battery suspect since last month in Fort Lauderdale.

According to Fort Lauderdale police, the incident occurred on Nov.27. approximately around 1:30 a.m. near the 100 block of Southwest 2nd Avenue.

Officers responded to the area after receiving reports of a stabbing that had occurred.

Upon arrival, police located two 17-year-old female victims with injuries.

According to detectives, one of the victims was transported to Broward Health Medical Center by Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue with non-life-threatening injuries. The other victim suffered minor injuries and did not require medical treatment.

According to a news release, the incident happened when a group of friends were inside the nightclub when a male suspect groped one of the victims.

Detectives said the victim pushed the suspect away from her and told her friends that he had touched her. The second victim confronted the suspect and told him to leave them alone. The suspect pulled out a pocketknife and stabbed both victims.

Video surveillance from the business captured the suspect exiting the nightclub and leaving the area southbound towards Southwest 2nd Street.

The suspect is believed to between 30 and 40 years old, with a large build and short brush cut style hair.

He is seen on video wearing a ripped white shirt, with the words “POLO” across the front, a large gold chain, dark pants, and black shoes.
