‘Think twice’: New Doral Police Chief warns thieves caught on camera stealing two vehicles

DORAL, Fla. – Police are searching for more suspected car thieves after they were caught on camera stealing two vehicles Wednesday night in Doral.

Local 10 News reporter Rosh Lowe spoke to new Doral Police Chief Edwin Lopez who warned thieves to “think twice’ before committing a crime in his area.

“Not only do we have a dedicated team of individuals that are trained and equip to handle anything that is presented to us, we also have a city with a new mayor and a city manager and elected officials that really support law enforcement,” said Lopez.

Surveillance video obtained by Local 10 News shows three men wearing black hoodies and getting into SUVs that appear to be unlocked.

“He’s able to get access to the car very easily when the keys are left inside the vehicle,” said Lopez.

According to Lopez, a gun was taken from one of the vehicles.

Authorities said the crooks responsible also burglarized a home during the theft.

Doral police said they have leads on the case and the recent thefts could be part of a larger crime ring.

Officers were asking anyone with information about the thefts to call the Doral Police Department at 305-593-6699 or Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
