NORTH MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – A 36-year-old woman was arrested Thursday after trying to fight numerous patrons outside of a sports bar in North Miami Beach and biting an officer, authorities said.

Maketha Battle, 36, of Miami Gardens, is facing charges of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest with violence and battery on a law enforcement officer.

According to North Miami Beach police, authorities were called to the parking lot outside of Styx Sports Bar at 15336 W. Dixie Hwy.

Police said they were notified by an off-duty officer that Battle was seen yelling outside at numerous patrons.

According to the arrest report, officers said they witnessed Battle “causing a disturbance and disrupting the flow of business.”

Authorities said after trying to separate the individuals involved, they observed Battle elbowing an officer.

Police said after giving Battle multiple orders to put her hands behind her back, she refused and began to curse at police.

As police were putting handcuffs on Battle, a patron screamed out “gun, gun,” which made the officer disengage, according to the report.

According to police, as Battle was taken to the ground after multiple attempts to place her in custody, she then bit an officer’s shoe while resisting arrest.

Police said after sending backup, Battle was taken into custody and transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correction Center for processing.
