Criminals caught on camera stealing $30k of jewelry from Fort Lauderdale department store

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Police are searching for a group of criminals involved in a department store robbery.

It happened on Feb. 18 at around 5 p.m. at the Galleria Mall in Fort Lauderdale.

Authorities said four people were involved, and it happened inside Macy’s.

“We released the video this morning to you guys showing four pretty brave suspects walking into the Macy’s at the Galleria Mall, opening one of the jewelry counters and taking $30,000 worth of merchandise,” said Fort Lauderdale Police Public Information Officer Casey Liening.

The video shows two of the suspects districting an employee while the other two commit the robbery.

Authorities are hoping someone recognizes the crooks and turns them in.

“The photos and video are pretty clear so we think someone would come forward with that information,” said Liening. “This is a pretty big deal, we don’t usually have $30,000 of merchandise taken in a very planned operation.”

Anyone who thinks they recognize the suspects or has any information on the crime is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
