According to BSO spokeswoman Claudinne Caro, deputies and Tamarac Fire Rescue personnel responded to the scene and found the victim lying in the roadway.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Caro confirmed that the 23-year-old driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene.

According to authorities, the driver of a black 2000 Ford Mustang convertible was heading east on West Commercial Boulevard in the left thru lane at the same time the pedestrian was crossing West Commercial Boulevard either at or near the designated crosswalk of Northwest 33rd Avenue.

BSO Traffic Homicide Unit detectives are investigating the circumstances that led up to the crash, but say impairment is not a contributing factor to the crash.
