Fort Lauderdale shooting leaves woman hospitalized, police say

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Police are investigating a shooting that left a woman hospitalized in Fort Lauderdale early Friday morning.

According to Fort Lauderdale police, officers responded to reports of a shooting around 3 a.m. near the 500 block of Fourth Avenue.

Authorities said the victim suffered a non-life-threatening injury and was treated at Broward Health Medical Center.

A shooter was detained at the scene and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation, according to Fort Lauderdale police.

Police have not identified the victim or shooter involved in the incident.

A motive for the shooting remains unclear.
