Recall alert issued for Walmart ready-to-eat meal

Fried rice sold at several stores across South Florida

MIAMI ā€“ Check your refrigerator. A recall has been issued for a ready-to-eat product sold at Walmart stores across South Florida.

Garland Ventures is recalling approximately 13,842 pounds of ready-to-eat chicken fried rice products that may be contaminated with Listeria.

Freshness Guaranteed Chicken Fried Rice, Lot No. WK10CFR with a best by date of Nov. 10, 2024, can be returned to a Walmart store for a refund.

Walmart also included a list of the stores across the country where the product was sold. Miami, Miami Gardens, Hialeah, Homestead, Fort Lauderdale and Florida City store addresses were included on the list.

According to a press release from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, listeriosis can cause fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance and convulsions sometimes preceded by diarrhea or other gastrointestinal symptoms.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.
