Surveillance video released of Pompano Beach shootout

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – The Broward Sheriff’s Office released surveillance video Tuesday that shows a non-fatal triple shooting that occurred last week in Pompano Beach.

The shooting occurred around 4 p.m. Dec. 6 near the 1700 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

According to BSO spokeswoman Gerdy St. Louis, one victim told detectives that several people approached him as he was walking in the area and they got into a verbal altercation.

“According to the victim, when he began to walk away, three of the unknown individuals lifted their waistbands and revealed their guns,” St. Louis said in a news release. “That’s when the victim says he pulled out his gun and fired in self-defense as the subjects fired back.”

Surveillance video of the incident shows the victim walking on the sidewalk when he is approached by five people.

Moments later, gunfire erupts and the five people are seen fleeing the area.

Three people were hit during the shootout, according to detectives – the victim, an innocent bystander and another male subject.

Pompano Beach Fire Rescue personnel transported the bystander to an area hospital for treatment. The other two wounded in the shootout arrived at the hospital on their own.

All three suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Anyone with information about the shootout is asked to call BSO Violent Crimes Detective Lacey Fitzpatrick at 954-321-4200 or submit a tip through the SaferWatch app.
