BSO: Motorcyclist killed in Deerfield Beach crash

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. ā€“ Authorities are investigating a crash in Deerfield Beach that left a motorcyclist dead Tuesday night.

Broward Sheriffā€™s Office detectives said their preliminary investigation revealed at approximately 9 p.m., 41-year-old Lech Podowski was driving in a 2007 Mercedes S550 sedan in the westbound lanes of Sample Road and South Dixie Highway.

At the same time, a man on a 2004 Kawasaki EX-250F motorcycle was in the eastbound lanes of the intersection preparing to make a left turn northbound onto Dixie Highway when was stuck by the Mercedes, according to BSO spokesperson Gerdy St. Louis.

Authorities said paramedics transported the motorcyclist, whose identity wasnā€™t released, to Broward Health North Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead just after 9:30 p.m.

The circumstances surrounding the fatal crash remain under investigation, according to BSO.
