“She was due the 25th, but she didn’t want to come out,” Fonseca said in Spanish. “I spent all day yesterday in labor, and in the end she was born today, which I didn’t expect. Everything has been a surprise.”

Fuad Kiuhan and his partner Lorena also welcomed in a new addition in the new year.

Baby daughter Alena was due in 10 days, but was ready on New Year’s Day at Baptist Hospital in Kendall.

“Lorena was telling me something’s off I know it and then at 3 am she said ‘Oh snap, my water broke. Let’s go,’” Kiuhan said. “The countdown wishing her a happy birthday I think is a new family tradition we will take on.”
