Police: 2 sought after man shot dead inside cosmetic store in northeast Miami-Dade

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A shooting inside an office building in northeast Miami-Dade left a man dead Wednesday afternoon and now police are searching for the two culprits responsible.

Miami-Dade police said they responded to a shooting call around 3:15 p.m. at a beauty salon located at 190 NE 199 Street.

Preliminary information revealed an argument between two men ensued inside the multi-use cosmetic business, according to detectives.

Police said two men in dark-colored clothing entered the business, and one of the men is who shot and killed the victim, who officers believe was targeted.

Sky 10 flew over the scene just before 4 p.m. where police officers were investigating an office building located near the 100 block of Northeast 199th Street, just west of the Ives Estates area and Interstate 95.

A Miami-Dade Fire Rescue spokesperson said crews also responded to the reported shooting on the second floor of that building and found the man dead at the scene.

Police said the gunmen fled the scene moments after the shooting in a white Mercedes and remains at large.

Sky 10 cameras also captured a woman talking to police and then fleeing the scene. Moments later, that same woman went running up the stairs to the second floor of the office building where the shooting reportedly occurred and was detained by officers in the area.

At around 5 p.m., Local 10 News cameras captured several officers taking a man with a white shirt into custody and walking him across 199th Street in handcuffs to be interviewed. However, it remains unclear if the man or woman detained is related to the shooting.

The office building has several other businesses inside, including a medical practice and a children’s daycare. All the businesses were open at the time of the shooting.

Venise Danda owns a medical practice in the building and told Local 10 News’ Terrell Forney that some of her staff and patients were stuck inside during the investigation.

The daycare alerted parents about the shooting and asked them to come pick up their children.

“They said there’s an emergency, there’s a shooting and parents need to come pick up their child as soon as possible,” a mother told Local 10 News. “I’m like wow-- I hope it’s not my child.”

Local 10 News spoke with people who knew the victim who said that he was a young father and often stayed to himself.

Police said several people were detained as detectives worked to establish their level of involvement.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on the culprits to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
