1 airlifted after falling off roof in northwest Miami-Dade

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A person was airlifted to the hospital after falling off the top of a roof in northwest Miami-Dade Wednesday afternoon, according to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.

Authorities said multiple Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units responded to reports of a fall along the 5400 block of Northwest 72nd Avenue.

Upon arrival, authorities said they located a person who had fallen from the main roof onto a secondary roof portion of the structure and was unable to get down.

Tactical crews proceeded to retrieve the persons from the secondary roof of the structure by conducting a Stokes basket operation in order to safely lower the patient for transport, according to MDFR.

Authorities confirmed the person injured was airlifted to a nearby trauma center.

FDFR has not provided any information on the victim’s age, gender, identity or condition.

Fire rescue crews have not said what led the person to go on top of the roof before the incident occurred.
