Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the scene and transported the victim to the hospital due to the gravity of his injuries.

The attack left the man with a laceration to the head requiring stitches, an infraorbital fracture and a nasal bone fracture, according to police.

Miami-Dade police eventually located Serrano at the Naranja Food Store on 27801 S. Dixie Hwy and took him into custody.

Despite being presented with a confirmation photo positively identifying him as the assailant, Serrano chose to invoke his rights and refused to provide a statement to police, his arrest report stated.

Serrano was later transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where he faces charges of aggravated battery with great bodily harm, according to jail records.

A motive for the attack remains unclear.
