2 arrested in connection to shooting at mall in Palm Beach Gardens, police say

Handcuffs jail prison

Nearly a week after a shooting at the Gardens Mall, which injured one person, the Palm Beach Gardens Police Department announced they have made two arrests in the case, which they described as a “gang-related incident.”

Police announced the arrests during a news conference held at the Palm Beach Gardens Municipal Complex – Veteran’s Plaza located at 10500 N. Military Trail, according to WPTV, a Local 10 News affiliate.

Police said that Devon Jamal Graham, a 28-year-old from Riviera Beach, was arrested around 2:50 p.m. Tuesday after he allegedly shot a man on the escalator near P.F. Chang’s at the mall on Feb. 14.

During his press conference, authorities said they had already arrested Kemarcio Antonio Mitchell, 28, who officials confirmed was the man Graham shot. Mitchell, who police said had a handgun when the shooting occurred, was arrested Friday after he was treated for a non-life threatening gunshot wound at St. Mary’s Medical Center.

Jail records show Mitchell is facing a federal charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, which carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years to life in prison.

Investigators confirmed Graham and Mitchell are affiliated with gangs and have a history of knowing each other.

Investigators said it was neither a mass shooting nor a random one.

The Gardens Mall reopened at 10 a.m. the following day.
