1 dead, 1 in custody following shooting in northwest Miami-Dade

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Miami-Dade police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Wednesday morning.

According to authorities, the shooting was reported in the area of Northwest 91st Street and 22nd Avenue.

A Local 10 News crew was at the scene as police were focusing their attention at a Presi Stop corner store.

Officers blocked off multiple blocks as they investigated what happened.

According to Miami-Dade police Detective Andre Martin, a man was shot inside the store while talking to some friends.

He has since been identified as 48-year-old Patrick Zamor.

“Our victim was in the store, and basically having a conversation with one or two people in the store when someone entered the store without provocation, produced a firearm and shot the victim,” Martin said.

Residents in the area told Local 10 News reporter Bridgette Matter that they heard between eight to 16 gunshots.

Loved ones gathered near the scene and were seen embracing one another as they waited for an update from police.

While police confirmed they located and detained one person of interest, they said detectives are working to determine that person’s involvement and whether anyone else was there or took part in the shooting.

Anyone with further information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
