Plane came down on club’s golf course, deputies say

KEY LARGO, Fla. – A small plane crash at the Ocean Reef Club on Key Largo sent one person to the hospital Friday afternoon, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

MCSO spokesperson Becky Herrin said dispatchers received a call about the crash, on the club’s golf course, just before 12:45 p.m.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue medics airlifted a man, believed to be the pilot, to Jackson South Medical Center.

Authorities didn’t immediately provide details on his condition.

According to a Federal Aviation Administration database, the Cirrus SR20, manufactured in 2011, is registered to Baker Consulting LLC in Mandaree, North Dakota.

According to online flight tracking websites FlightAware and Flightradar24, the plane took off from Pompano Beach Airpark at 12:07 p.m. and was scheduled to land at the Ocean Reef Club’s private airport.

The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the crash scene and will investigate, Herrin said.
