Metromover to be closed for part of Saturday due to construction

MIAMI — The Metromover system will be closed for part of the day Saturday due to construction going on in downtown Miami, Miami-Dade County officials confirmed Friday.

According to a county spokesperson, the Metromover is expected to be closed beginning at 9 a.m. through 2 p.m. due to a construction project at the Miami Tower.

“The project is unrelated to the Miami-Dade County or Miami-Dade Transit, and is being completed by a third party with FAA oversight,” the spokesperson said in a news release.

All Metromover stations will be closed until the county receives clearance to reopen them.

A free bus shuttle service between stations will be available until they reopen.

“During this temporary closure, work on the Metromover Upgrade Project, a multi-year project to enhance the Metromover system, will continue to be advanced,” the spokesperson said.

Real-time transit updates can be found by signing up for Transit Alerts or downloading the Go Miami-Dade Transit Mobile app.
