Police ID transgender male shot dead at The Village at Gulfstream Park

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Hallandale police have confirmed that a transgender male who was shot last week at The Village at Gulfstream Park has died.

According to authorities, officers responded to the 800 block of Silks Run near Strike 10 Bowling after receiving reports about a shooting around 1:30 a.m. April 3.

Hallandale Beach police said one victim, who they identified as 36-year-old Latoya Arnold, was transported to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead last Sunday.

Hallandale Beach police Capt. Aaron Smith told Local 10 News reporter Rosh Lowe that he believes the shooting is considered to be an “isolated incident” and not related to a hate crime.

“We don’t believe this was a hate crime,” Smith said. “When we have incidents like this, we do our very best and we do everything to keep our community safe.”

Police said they are now searching for a female suspect, and said the suspect and victim are known to each other.
