Police say alert citizen helped save woman found slumped over in smoking car

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Hollywood police body-worn camera shows the moments officers broke the window of a woman’s car to save her life.

Someone called police when they noticed a woman slumped over in the driver’s seat of a car with smoke coming from it.

It happened on the morning of April 2 near Sheridan Plaza off Sheridan Street.

Officers gave the woman Narcan before she was taken straight to the hospital.

“A local citizen flagged them down and advised them there was a vehicle that was stopped in the middle of the road,” said Danielly De Andrade, with the Hollywood Police Department.

According to Hollywood police, that citizen’s quick thinking helped save the woman’s life.

“We would like to thank the community and our local citizens for approaching our officers and letting them know they saw something that was off and asked for their help,” said De Andrade.

Authorities said the woman was taken to the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
