Upon arrival, responding officers observed security staff detaining the suspect, who police identified as William Porter IV, of Hollywood.

Authorities confirmed police spoke with a security staff member who they say had responded to the classroom and was conducting a search of another studentā€™s backpack.

During this time, school security informed Porter that he could not have his cellphone while on internal suspension, a protocol of the school. They also informed Porter that they were sending him to the front office due to his behavior, according to his arrest report.

Police said as they were escorting Porter outside of the classroom, he continued to disrespect a female school security guard.

Subsequently, Porter grabbed the officer in a bear hug and forcefully slammed her on the ground.

Another responding officer attempted to assist the officer being attacked, but Porter managed to punch the security guard on the right side of her face, the report stated.

Police said another security officer intervened to help detain Porter.

The initial security guard told police that she was trying to escort Porter to the front office when he attempted to punch her several more times, although none of those punches connected.

An arrest report indicates that the security guard wished to prosecute and provided a statement, which was not included in the report.

According to jail records, Porter is facing one count of battery on a public or private education employee.

His bond information is unknown at this time.
