Victim airlifted after shooting on Miccosukee Indian Reservation

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. ā€“ Tribal police are investigating a shooting on the Miccosukee Indian Reservation in far western Miami-Dade County Friday afternoon.

According to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue dispatch records, the shooting happened at around 3:30 p.m. on the reservation, located in the Everglades off the Tamiami Trail, about four miles east of the mainland Monroe County line.

Medics airlifted the victim to a Miami-Dade trauma center, according to MDFR. Miccosukee police said in a statement posted to X that the victim was ā€œstable.ā€

In that statement, police said ā€œdetails are limited as the investigation is ongoing.ā€

Authorities have not released the name, age or gender of the victim or suspect or said whether either is a tribal member.

They also havenā€™t indicated whether anyone was taken into custody.
