‘Unthinkable’: Miami-Dade police seek driver they say fled after crash, left girlfriend to die

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Miami-Dade police are searching for a man who they said fled the scene of a crash that killed his girlfriend over the weekend.

According to police, the crash occurred just before 5:55 a.m. Sunday in the area of Northwest 17th Avenue and 95th Street.

Police said Marvin Cisneros Garcia, 38, was driving south on 17th Avenue in a white Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck when it collided with a black Dodge RAM that was heading east on 95th Street.

The crash resulted in the death of Garcia’s girlfriend, 33-year-old Meylin Munoz Romero.

Police said Garcia, a Nicaraguan national, fled the scene after the crash, leaving Munoz Romero behind without ever attempting to render aid or report the crash to authorities.

“It’s unthinkable that anyone would flee the scene of an accident that results in a fatality, without trying to render aid to any of the people involved in the accident, much less their girlfriend,” Miami-Dade police Detective Andre Martin, an agency spokesperson, said. “There’s no excuse and if this person, Mr. Marvin Cisneros, would do this to his girlfriend, he would have done it to anyone and we need to find him.”

Six people were hurt in the crash. Police said they believe impaired driving was a factor.

Anyone with information about Garcia’s whereabouts is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477. A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information that leads to his arrest.
