One damaged motorcycle was spotted on a tow truck while a second motorcycle was seen two lanes over.

According to Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Indiana Miranda, the crash involved a 2020 BMW motorcycle, being ridden by a 36-year-old Black male from Tamarac, and a 2019 Yamaha motorcycle, being ridden by a 43-year-old white female from Pompano Beach.

Miranda said the BMW was heading north on the highway, south of Sunrise Boulevard, when for reasons unknown, it went down in the sixth lane and then traveled through several lanes.

According to Miranda, the BMW was then struck by the Yamaha.

Both people were ejected from their motorcycles after the crash.

Miranda said the BMW erupted in flames after the collision and the motorcyclist was ran over by multiple vehicles. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other motorcyclist suffered severe leg injuries, Miranda confirmed.

Northbound traffic was blocked off in the area from Broward Boulevard to Sunrise Boulevard after the crash, causing a traffic gridlock for the morning rush hour. All lanes have since reopened.

The motorcyclists’ identities have not been released.
