Miami Beach undercover officers targets drug dealers near parks, schools, places of worship

Chief on ‘Operation Euphoria’: 57 arrests in 2 weeks

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Police officers arrested dozens of suspects over narcotics in Miami Beach. Detectives suspected some were drug dealers and reported catching them in the act.

Chief Wayne A. Jones said there were 57 arrested in total as part of the two-week “Operation Euphoria” to target drug dealing within 1000 feet of parks, schools, and places of worship.

“These fellas have been around the block,” Jones said.

Undercover police officers even arrested a suspect allegedly drug dealing near Temple Emanu-El, a historic synagogue on Washington Avenue.

There were also arrests near Altos Del Mar and Lummus Park.

Jones said undercover officers even purchased drugs from them several times to build the cases against the suspects. Some of the suspects already had criminal records, police said.
