MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A 19-year-old man was arrested early Tuesday morning after police said he shot a victim following an argument at a southwest Miami-Dade gas station.
Miami-Dade police said a confrontation between Manuel Alejandro Rodriguez and the victim occurred at a Mobil gas station located at 11900 SW Eighth Street.

Police said the incident began when Rodriguez was paying for gas at the station’s exterior window just after 2 a.m.
Shortly after, the victim approached him to ask for the time, which police said sparked an argument.
Police said the situation escalated when the victim threw a plastic trash can at Rodriguez and walked away.
In response, Rodriguez pulled out a gun and pointed it at the victim, who police said was unarmed and posed no immediate threat.
The victim reportedly yelled at Rodriguez, saying, “If you are going to shoot me, then do it.”
Authorities said Rodriguez then fired a single shot, striking the victim in the hip, before fleeing the scene.
The victim was treated for a gunshot wound at Jackson South Medical Center, according to an arrest report.
Authorities said they identified Rodriguez through a photo lineup and he was taken into custody at his home.
Jail records show he is facing one count of second-degree attempted murder.
As of Thursday, Rodriguez was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where his bond has not yet been determined.
