A recent chill is set to erode over South Florida and the Florida Keys.
The temperature rebound comes after lows dipped to the 50s across Miami-Dade and Broward counties Wednesday morning.
The Florida Keys felt winter’s chill, too. Key West dropped to the 50s for the first time this season, slipping to 58°F. The southernmost point in the United States hasn’t gotten that cold since February.
The Local 10 Weather Authority team says temperatures are becoming milder as a brisk, northeast breeze takes hold of the area.
Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Key West are set to round out the week with seasonable temperatures, with lows in the mid and upper 60s, with highs in the upper 70s.
Meteorologists also say that, starting this weekend, the onshore breeze is likely to carry showers across the area from time to time.
The National Weather Service adds that the stronger wind pattern will lead to ongoing beach and marine hazards. The rip current risk stays high through the weekend. A Small Craft Advisory is in place as waters off Miami-Dade, Broward and the Keys remain choppy to rough.
