Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies identified the suspect as 32-year-old Nadia Desir.

According to MDSO, the incident occurred around 3 a.m. when the victim was asleep on the living room sofa.

Deputies said Desir woke him up by yelling and demanding more money for rent.

She then searched his pockets before grabbing a kitchen knife with an 8-inch blade and attacked him, according to the report.

The report stated that Desir stabbed the victim multiple times, striking him in the left upper thigh and right inner thigh near his groin.

When the victim attempted to call police, authorities said Desir took his cellphone and locked herself in the bedroom with their children.

They said the victim fled the residence and was able to wave down a deputy near Northwest 116th Street and Northwest Seventh Avenue.

Responding deputies were initially unable to locate Desir but advised the victim to call again later to retrieve his belongings.

Deputies said they returned to the scene and detained Desir around 6 a.m.

Investigators said Desir admitted to demanding money and searching the victim’s pockets but denied stabbing him, claiming she had only used the knife to cut oranges for her children.

They said the victim was treated for his injuries by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and his cellphone was recovered from Desir’s vehicle. Deputies impounded the knife as evidence, according to the report.

Both Desir and the victim, who speak Creole, were assisted by deputies fluent in the language.

Authorities said the Florida Department of Children and Families was notified of the incident.

Jail records show Desir is facing one count each of armed robbery with a deadly weapon and aggravated battery with a weapon causing great bodily harm.

As of Monday, she was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where her bond was listed as “to be set.”
