Daysnel Hernandez, 41, is facing five felony charges in connection with both incidents.

In Thursday’s attack in west Miami-Dade, deputies said Hernandez went up to a 28-year-old woman who parked at the Miami Merchandise Mart at 777 NW 72nd Ave., near the airport, hit her in the back of the head with a rock, dragged her to the underpass, then punched her and raped her as he held a screwdriver to her neck.

On Friday, Doral police said a housekeeper at the Doral Inn & Suites, located at 1212 NW 82nd Ave., encountered Hernandez in a room as she was cleaning it.

An arrest report states that he held a knife, told the woman ā€œcallate que te voy a matarā€ ― ā€œShut up, or I’ll kill youā€ in Spanish ― and hit her multiple times with the knife while grabbing her neck.

Police said Hernandez was startled by the woman screaming for help and fled. A coworker went to the room after hearing the victim screaming for help on the radio and ā€œfound her bleeding and injured,ā€ the report states.

Hernandez fled in a van bearing the name of a mobile car wash business, police said. The report states that license plate reader and past traffic ticket data linked Hernandez to the van.

Authorities said they found the van parked in the garage at Hernandez’s apartment building, the Avalon Doral complex at 3940 NW 79th Ave.

Police said they located Hernandez and he gave a full confession.

He now faces charges of attempted murder, burglary with assault or battery, armed kidnapping, armed sexual battery and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

Records show he’s refused bond court appearances.
