1 person hospitalized after car crashes into southwest Miami-Dade home

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — First responders rushed to the scene of a crash that included a vehicle and a home on Monday afternoon.

It happened around 5:30 p.m. in the area of the 3300 block of Southwest 82nd Avenue in Miami-Dade County.

Surveillance video obtained by Local 10 News shows a car speeding through the neighborhood before the crash.

Moments later, a man is seen running toward the crash scene.

According to officials, the car slammed through a cement wall and into a home.

One person was injured and taken to a nearby hospital, authorities said.

The woman who owns the home, who asked not to be identified, was inside the house at the time of the crash.

“I was in this room, I was like here, and I heard the sound,” she said. “I didn’t look back.”

She was standing feet away from where the car smashed into her bathroom and closet, leaving behind pieces of cement and broken glass all over the place.

“I didn’t look back, so I ran,” the homeowner said. “I didn’t realize what was happening until I came back into the house.”

The crash left a gaping hole in the side of her home.

Hours later, the black car was towed away, its front left mangled.

A car door that appeared to have been cut off was left propped up against a wall.

Investigators with the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office are looking into how the single-vehicle crash happened.
