PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. — The owner of a private music school in Pembroke Pines was arrested earlier this week on allegations that he had a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl over a two-year period.
Pembroke Pines police said Rakesh Jhaveri, 30, of Sunrise, owns Music Legacies, located at 6941 SW 196th Ave., in Bergeron Plaza.
Between 2023 and 2025, investigators said Jhaveri “leveraged his position as a trusted adult and began a sexual relationship with a minor.”
They said while the girl was supposed to be receiving private music lessons, Jhavari “engaged in illegal sexual conduct on numerous occasions.”
An arrest report states that Jhaveri and the victim are family friends and they first met when she was 8 years old.
Police said that in October 2023, the victim reported that she kissed Jhaveri for the first time and that their relationship became sexual a few months later. They said most of the pair’s inappropriate relations occurred at Jhaveri’s busness when he was allegedly teaching her music lessons.
Jail records show he is facing 10 counts of lewd and lascivious battery of a victim between the ages of 12 and 16.
Police anyone with children who attended or visited Jhaveri’s business to contact Special Victims Unit Detective Nicole Ratliff at 954–743–1639 or nratliff@ppines.com if they believe their child may be a victim of similar crimes.
A Broward County judge on Tuesday found probable cause for Jhavari and set his total bond at $100,000.
He was ordered to be on Level 2 GPS monitoring. The judge also ordered no contact with minors, except for his two children, and no contact with the victim.
Local 10 has requested his arrest report. He was no longer listed as an inmate on Broward County’s jail website.
