Double shooting in Davie leaves residents with questions

DAVIE, Fla. — Two seniors were prounouced dead following a double shooting in Davie on Sunday night, according to police.

It happened just after 8:30 p.m. in the 4700 block of Southwest 70th Terrace.

Davie police identified the individuals Tuesday as Charles and Kathleen Watson.

Neighborhood shaken after senior shot dead, another injured

Police said one of them was pronounced dead at the scene, while another died at a local hospital.

“There was a single shot heard by a neighbor. The hospice nurse ran out,” a person who lives nearby told Local 10 News. “This is an older couple. I’ve known them since I was born. They’re really good people.”

Authorities say they are not looking for a suspect and that there is no threat to the community. They have not confirmed whether the shooting was a murder-suicide.

No other details about the shooting were immediately released.
