AVENTURA, Fla. — With just days to go until Christmas, it was a crowded day at Aventura Mall on Sunday as shoppers were seeking last minute holiday gifts.
The National Retail Federation predicted holiday sales will surpass a trillion dollars for the first time ever.
“It’s crazy,” said shopper Ashley Barrero. “I think it’s insane right now, the prices.”
The NRF is projecting the average consumer will spend just under $900 on gifts, food and decorations.
Despite what is anticipated to be a record setting holiday sales, inflation and higher costs have some spending a little less than in 2024, per NRF.
“I’m a student, so I have a part time job, so it’s a little daunting but it’s okay,” said shopper Mia Cabrera.
Aventura Mall will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve but it will be closed on Christmas Day.
