Firefighters respond to junkyard fire in Opa-locka

OPA-LOCKA, Fla. — Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units responded Monday night to a fire at a junkyard near the 3400 block of Northwest 135th Street.

Firefighters arrived around 10:18 p.m. to find heavy smoke and flames coming from a pile of debris, with fire extending to the roof.

Authorities said crews coordinated their efforts, applying water to both the debris and the roof, and used ladders to attack the fire from above.

The blaze was brought under control and extinguished, and units remained on scene to monitor for hot spots. No injuries were reported.

MDFR officials said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
