Firefighters take on step-climbing fundraiser at loanDepot park

MIAMI — South Florida firefighters went on a special mission Sunday.

They teamed up with the American Lung Association for the ultimate workout, climbing 1,700 steps at loanDepot park.

It was the 22nd anniversary of the Fight for Air Climb Miami.

The Miami-Dade Fire Rescue firefighters were dressed in full gear, climbing every single step of the stadium’s lower bowl, from the bottom of the ballpark all the way to the top of each section.

It’s part of a fundraiser to raise money for the American Lung Association, which said nearly 3 million people across Florida are living with lung disease.

The organization said all the dollars raised will make a big difference when it comes to advancing research and education.

The event began at 7:30 a.m. and ran through noon.
