Miami police seek driver in hit-and-run that killed man, 62, near gas station

MIAMI — Miami police asked for the public’s help in locating a driver who they say was involved in a fatal hit-and-run that occurred early Friday morning.

Police said they responded just before 3:30 a.m. to a crash involving a pedestrian near Caraf Oil, adjacent to the intersection of Northwest 12th Avenue and 28th Street, in the city’s Allapattah neighborhood.

They said the victim, 62-year-old Antonio Sanchez, was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, where he later died.

Investigators believe the suspect was driving a tan or gold SUV with front-end damage.
