FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — A petite pup named Chichi is looking for a new home after her family moved and couldn’t take her along.

HSBC’s Cherie Wachter says Chichi is believed to be an 8-year-old Chihuahua mix.

Chichi may seem a little unsure at first -- especially when perched on a table -- but she quickly warms up, Wachter says.

At the shelter, she’s described as playful and energetic, rolling around like a puppy and tossing her favorite donut toy in the air.

She’s a small, fluffy dog with a big personality who enjoys car rides, belly rubs and toys that make noise. Staff say she does well with other dogs but would likely love being the center of attention. She’s also reported to be potty trained if kept on a schedule and would do best in a home with older children.

Also up for adoption is Ivan, a 4-year-old cat who was left behind when his owners moved away. The new resident of the home couldn’t keep him, so he was brought to the shelter.

Ivan weighs about 15 pounds -- nearly twice Chichi’s size -- and is described as affectionate and full of personality. He enjoys cuddling, belly rubs and has a mischievous side, even figuring out how to open drawers.

Both animals are available for adoption through the Broward Humane Society.
