According to an arrest report from the Broward Sheriff’s Office, Davie police informed BSO Tuesday that Charles Robert Wingold had called a friend and told him that he was going to kill his mother and father and then himself.

Davie police gave BSO deputies the address to Wingold’s grandmother, which was also his last known address.

According to the report, deputies from the agency’s Oakland Park District went to the address and spoke with his grandmother who was able to track his location through her cellphone and saw that he was near his mother’s apartment.

Deputies then contacted Wingold’s mother, who they said told them that her son had been at the gate to her apartment complex, trying to gain entry.

Wingold had already left by the time deputies arrived, authorities said.

According to the report, deputies found Wingold a short time later at a gas station located at 301 E. Sample Road and took him into custody.

He was transported to the Oakland Park District office where he admitted to sending suicidal and homicidal messages via a group chat involving his mother, stepfather and grandmother, the report stated.

According to the report, detectives found various messages on Wingold’s phone, including one that said “she’ll get a bullet in her head” and “for all of you to die.”

Detectives said he also made a statement, indicating that he wanted to end his own life.

Wingold was arrested on charges of intimidation/written threats to kill and use of a communications device to facilitate a felony.

As of Thursday afternoon, Wingold was being held at the North Broward Bureau on an $8,500 bond.
