MIAMI — A Miami man has been charged in connection with a 2021 drive-by shooting that killed another man outside his home, following a yearslong homicide investigation that included surveillance footage, forensic evidence and witness statements, according to police.
According to an arrest report from the Miami Police Department, Gerald Hollie, 36, was charged Wednesday in connection with the Feb. 5, 2021, killing of Tilkharri Harris.
Authorities said at approximately 10:27 a.m. that day, officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert near the 1500 block of Northwest 58th Street.
Upon arrival, police said they discovered Harris sitting in the driver’s seat of a Mercedes-Benz, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
An arrest report confirmed Harris’ home had also been struck several times in the hail of gunfire.
Authorities said first responders rushed Harris to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:06 a.m.
Investigators said they reviewed surveillance footage from the area which showed a newer model black Chevrolet Blazer with dark tints parked near the corner of Northwest 15th Avenue and Northwest 58th Street, just east of the victim’s home.
The vehicle arrived at approximately 7:53 a.m., hours before the shooting, and appeared to be lying in wait, authorities said.
Police said moments before the fatal shooting, the rear passenger window of the SUV was lowered, and the vehicle moved westbound on Northwest 58th Street.
Authorities confirmed that additional surveillance video footage later showed the Blazer stopping in front of Harris’ home.
The driver, who police identified as Terrance Martin, was armed with a dark-colored semi-automatic gun as he exited the vehicle and began firing in the direction of the victim, who was seated in his car, authorities said.
According to detectives, Martin stood on the floorboard of the Blazer and shot over the top of the vehicle, resting his left hand on the door frame as he continued firing.
After the shooting, police said Martin re-entered the SUV and fled westbound on Northwest 58th Street toward Northwest 17th Avenue. Surveillance footage indicated there were at least two other occupants inside the vehicle, suggesting a coordinated attack, according to investigators.
Forensic evidence tied vehicle to homicide
According to the report, the following day, investigators recovered the Chevrolet Blazer parked outside an apartment complex at 3330 N.W. 48th Terrace, where surveillance cameras had captured both Hollie and Terrance Martin, then 27, near the vehicle the day before the homicide.
Police said Martin matched the physical description of the gunman seen on surveillance video.
During a search of the SUV, detectives recovered a spent 7.62-caliber shell casing from the rear floorboard. According to forensic testing, the casing had been fired from the same weapon used in Harris’ killing.
Martin was arrested in October 2024 on charges of first-degree murder with a deadly weapon, second-degree murder with a weapon, throwing or shooting a missile and illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Witnesses provided new information
The investigation later produced additional witness statements that investigators say linked Hollie to the homicide.
According to his arrest report, a woman, who was arrested in 2024 on an accessory-after-the-fact charge, told detectives that both Martin and Hollie admitted they had shot and killed Harris. She told investigators Martin was driving the SUV while Hollie was the shooter.
In June, another witness gave a sworn statement to investigators.
According to police, the witness said Hollie, whom he knew as “GB” or “God Body,” contacted him shortly after the shooting and said, “We just killed TK,” referring to Harris by his nickname.
The witness told detectives Hollie asked him to clean out the SUV. The witness said he later removed spent 7.62-caliber and 9 mm shell casings from inside the vehicle before throwing them away, the report stated.
Investigators said those calibers were consistent with evidence recovered from the homicide scene.
According to the arrest report, the witness also told detectives the killing stemmed from an ongoing feud between members of the Wavy Navy gang and the 13th Avenue gang.
Hollie interviewed while jailed on unrelated charges
According to the arrest report, detectives interviewed Hollie Wednesday at the Metrowest Detention Center, where he was being held on unrelated charges.
The report states that Hollie waived his Miranda rights and acknowledged there had been an ongoing conflict between the rival gangs. He also identified himself and Martin in surveillance footage taken the day before the homicide, standing near the Chevrolet Blazer, authorities said.
When detectives asked whether he had ever been inside the SUV, Hollie responded, “Possibly, but I cannot recall,” according to the report.
Police said Hollie denied any involvement in Harris’ killing.
Hollie faces charges of first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, shooting or throwing a deadly missile, possession of a concealed weapon by a violent career criminal and attempting to tamper with physical evidence.
A criminal records check showed Hollie has three prior felony convictions from 2008, including two counts of robbery with a firearm and one count of carjacking with a firearm, according to investigators.
As of Thursday afternoon, Hollie remained at the Metrowest Detention Center. His total bond in online jail records was listed as “to be set.”
