HOLLYWOOD, Fla. — A back-to-school event was held on Sunday morning.

It occurred at the Old Navy located inside Oakwood Plaza in Hollywood.

During the event, shopping carts were quickly filled with jeans, shirts, shoes and other back-to-school essentials as children made their way through the store.

They weren’t doing it alone, though.

Volunteers, first responders and even people dressed as superheroes shopped right alongside the children, helping make the morning feel a little more special.

Every child also received a backpack filled with school supplies, giving them everything they need to start the school year prepared.

The event was organized by Voices for Children of Broward County, a nonprofit that supports children who have experienced abuse, neglect and abandonment.

According to the organization, the event “is a part of Voices’ year-long 15th anniversary celebration and expands its mission to ensure that every child and young adult in Broward County who has experienced abuse, neglect, or abandonment has access to essential resources and programs that promote long-term stability and well-being.”
