MIAMI LAKES, Fla. — A woman had a surprise encounter with a coyote that was caught on camera.
Josefina Riquelme was running errands in Miami Lakes on Sunday night when she saw the coyote on the side of the road.
Riquelme called the non-emergency police number, and a deputy responded to the scene off Loch Ness Drive near the Miami Lakes Golf Club.
Riquelme said she was told that not much could be done about the coyote.
Coyotes have been forced to search for new places to live because of all the new construction in South Florida.
They normally eat rodents and garbage but can view small dogs and cats as prey.
