NORTH LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Detectives with the Broward Sheriff's Office say they are looking for a man who robbed a shoe store in North Lauderdale.

After handing the clerk $20 as if he were paying for the socks, detectives said he jumped over the counter, pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded money.

Officials said the male clerk handed over money from the register. The gunman also forced the clerk to the back of the store, where detectives said a female coworker was.

The gunman forced the store's employees to open the safe. When he found out there wasn't any money in the safe, detectives said the robber became upset and demanded the clerk to get him two pairs of blue Nike Speedturf shoes, in sizes 8 and 10, valued at $135 per pair.

Detectives said the gunman ordered the female clerk to open a second cash register and give him the money inside.

On his way out of the store with the loot, officials said the gunman grabbed two baseball caps, one with an Atlanta Falcons logo, the other with a Chicago Bulls emblem. Detectives said the gunman also took a pair of grey and red Jordan socks.

The Broward Sheriff's Office described the gunman as a black male, wearing during the robbery sunglasses, a black sweater, black sweatpants, a grey skully and black and red Nike sneakers.
