Driver crashes Volkswagen Jetta into house; leaves scene

Silver Volkswagen with Oregon tags reported stolen Tuesday morning, owner says

BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. – The Broward County Sheriff's Office is searching for the driver who crashed a silver Volkswagen Jetta into a  house then left the scene.

The home is located on the1800 block of Gardenia Road near Plantation.

Carlos Tobar said he was half awake when the car crashed into his bed. He was sent to the hospital and released about an hour later with an injured shoulder and back pains.

Deputies at the scene told Local 10's Tamika Bickham the driver ran away after the crash. The car, with Oregon license plate number 038FBN, was left at the home.

The Jetta's owner, 34-year-old Noel Der, says he reported the car stolen to the Fort Lauderdale police department on Tuesday morning.

Tobar says he moved into the house just four days ago, but this is the third time that house has been hit by a car.

Daphne Chang, who owns the house, shared photos of an incident two months ago, when another vehicle slammed through the fence.

"There's so many things happening these days," Chang said. "People are crazy."
