After a few days of patrol, officers said they found Glenn Robert Shaw, 49, taking eggs from a female loggerhead turtle as she was laying them.

Shaw, who was found to be in possession of 107 eggs, was arrested immediately and booked into the Palm Beach County jail on third-degree felony charges of destroying, selling or molesting turtles or eggs or nests.

Shaw's bail is set at $3,000.

Authorities said 15 of the stolen eggs had to be kept for DNA testing, but the remaining 92 were buried by biologists in hopes they will hatch later this year.
