The retail giant sold the “Celebration Edition: Juneteenth Ice Cream” under its label, Great Value. The release of the red velvet-flavored ice cream created heated conversations on social media.

Along with the ice cream, other Juneteenth-themed items went up for sale at Walmart, including party plates.

President Joe Biden recognized Juneteenth, June 19, as the United States’ second Independence Day and a federal holiday. The holiday marks the day a major general of the Union Army arrived in Galveston, Texas, to enforce the Emancipation Proclamation and free the last enslaved Americans in Texas.
