Person of interest questioned after attempted robbery of armored truck in Miami

Surveillance video captures attempted robbery

MIAMI – A person of interest was questioned Wednesday after an attempted robbery of a Dunbar armored truck in Miami, authorities said.

The attempted robbery was reported outside a supermarket in the area of Southwest 17th Avenue and 11th Terrace in Miami's Little Havana neighborhood.

Surveillance video shows a man running up to the Dunbar guard as he is leaving the supermarket with money from the business.

The man grabs the wheel cart during a scuffle and the guard pulls out a handgun, firing several rounds at the man.

People who live in the area told Local 10 News that they stayed inside after hearing gunshots.

"Two loud booms coming from that direction. It kind of sounded like fireworks," Ingrid Sanchez said.

Police said the man ran off without the wheel cart.

Sky 10 was above the area of Southwest Eighth Street and 27th Avenue shortly before 2:30 p.m. and saw a black car parked on the side of the street that was roped off by police.

The driver is believed to be the person questioned by authorities.

No arrests have been made.

The FBI is investigating.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
