BOCA RATON, Fla. – A driver of a stolen car was arrested Saturday night after a three-county chase that began in Miami Beach and ended in Boca Raton.
Miami Beach police said the chase began when two men carjacked the driver of a white Mercedes Benz and wound up in traffic on the MacArthur Causeway.
Police spotted the car and attempted to pull it over, but the driver headed west to Interstate 95 and continued north through Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.
The chase came to an end just north of the Congress Avenue exit. It spanned more than 60 miles.
Witnesses said the car was being pursued by as many as 20 police cars from various agencies.
One of the men in the car appeared to be wincing in pain after they finally gave up.
I-95 was shut down for a short time.
