Roof collapses after house catches fire in Fort Lauderdale

House was under renovation, authorities say

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Fort Lauderdale firefighters extinguished a fire that was reported Wednesday afternoon at a home, authorities said.

A hole was cut in the roof of the home at 1204 Bayview Drive shortly before 4 p.m. to help firefighters battle the flames.

Video taken at the scene shows the roof collapsing a short time later.

It's unclear whether anyone was inside the house when the fire started.

Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue officials said the home was under renovation.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
