Teen in stable condition following Miami shooting

MIAMI – A 16-year-old is in stable condition after being shot several times Saturday in Miami.

Miami police said two teens opened fire on N.W. 39th Street at 17th Avenue, hitting Jamal Pieze several times. Police said one of the bullets went into the window of a passing car, breaking the glass. The driver of that car, Ronald Galindo, suffered cuts from the broken glass.

Officer Rene Pimentel said Pieze is a student at Miami Jackson Senior High School.

"We know he was walking and these two suspects started shooting at him," Pimentel said. "We know that 30 or 40 rounds were fired. He's very very lucky to be alive tonight."

Police said both men went to Ryder Trauma Center and are expected to recover.

Officers were canvassing the area in an effort to learn if there were any surveillance cameras to help identify the suspects.
